ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2024) — The Museum of Motherhood has taken a new permanent residence inside Gallery Row at the Factory, St. Pete located at 2606 Fairfield Avenue South in Building 7, Door 2 B (to the left of the FloridaRama & DaddyKool entrance next to Florida Wildlife Corridor).

“Our new location, with free, open, child-friendly space, allows the museum to be even more accessible to visitors across Tampa Bay to tour our interactive exhibits,” said Museum of Motherhood founder and director Martha Joy Rose. “We’re especially proud to remain one of the only museums in our area that does not charge an admission fee and is available for community members to gather, learn and play.”

The museum’s reopening celebration will highlight its newest visitor experience, an escape room adventure aptly named MoM’s Escape Womb. Designed to delight visitors age 18 and above (younger with an accompanying parent or guardian), with clues and puzzles about the secrets of life and while visitors explore the nuances of conception, gestation and birth. This 60-75-minute Escape Womb health and wellness journey is educational and fun. By reservation, tickets can be purchased through the Museum of Motherhood’s website.

Also on location are the Write Out Loud Wall and Big Red Interactive Sculpture designed by local artist Lucky Leroy which features topical news stories, messages and drawings. Visitors are invited to participate and share a testimony. Fabric, markers, and inspiration are available so everyone can leave their mark.

MoM prides itself on sharing a narrative of motherhood that is inclusive and sensitive to all visitors, including those who have chosen not to have children or may have complicated relationships with their own mothers. MoM’s doors are open to the public Thursday-Saturday 12- 6 p.m., and Sunday 12-3 p.m. or by reservation for special event programming and ticketing through the Escape Womb portal.

The Museum of Motherhood redefines how we discuss motherhood, viewing it from the perspective of m/others. Through innovative exhibitions and education, MoM examines the ubiquitous nature of reproductive identity, birth, and parenting while elucidating the art, science and herstory of American women.

Most importantly, MoM champions the importance of community. Special health, wellness and education monthly meetups and art-making are organized by Sierra M. Clark with featured speakers. MoM is the recipient of a capacity building grant from the Foundation for a Healthy St Pete 2024 and their 20th anniversary international spring conference is sponsored by USF St Pete and will be held on campus in 2025. With room to roam, toys on site for ages 1-5 yrs., and local volunteers as well as interns from nearby high schools staffing the space, the museum truly welcomes visitors of all ages and stages to gather, grow and be inspired.
