Tampa Bay Innovation Center Announces Spring 2022 Accelerator Startups

                                                                                                                               
                                                                                   

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – (April 18, 2022) – This week, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center,
 a technology incubator, accelerator, and coworking office, kicked off its spring 2022 Accelerator cohort with six startups that will receive specific training and mentoring in customer discovery, product strategy, investor-readiness, and entrepreneurial leadership. 

                               

“We are excited to introduce the next cohort of this highly successful B2B Accelerator and welcome these innovative companies into the program. While the weekly workshops focus mainly on product and go-to-market strategy, we will also work with the founders to strengthen their marketing, operations, and leadership skills. The application process, which started in January, received a record number of applicants. There were many good companies and ideas, but we focus our effort on the companies that we can assist most through the program and our mentor network.” said Ken Evans, managing director of the accelerator program. 

                               

The startups of the cohort include: 

                               

Beacon Advocates – Resource marketplace for connecting cancer patients and their families with a wide range of resources for enhancing care 

                               

CBio – Diagnostic tool for use in vaccine development, drug testing, and pathogen detection. 

                                                                                                
                                                                                   

Cross Compute – Tools and utilities for data analytics, specifically in the public utilities industry 

                               

Destination Better – ESG auditing and reporting tool for public companies
SueApp – Self-service legal tech product that enables the filling small claims online Zing Drone – Last-mile delivery via autonomous drones 

                                                                                                                                                                           
        

       

                                                                                                                               
                                                                                   

These companies are working on emerging tech in the areas of #medtech, #healthtech, #fintech, #dataanalytics, #esgreporting, and #droneservice 

                               

“Through the 12-week program, we plan to leverage our consulting experience to learn more about how to develop a tech product, roll it out, and scale a tech company,” Barbra Anderson, co-founder of Destination Better, and ESG professional services firm. 

                               

The program was initially seeded by a grant from the City of St. Petersburg to establish an accelerator for emerging tech startups. The Tampa Bay Innovation Center is supported by Pinellas County, TampaBay.Ventures, and numerous other community partners from the local business community. 

                               

The Accelerator will run virtually from mid-April through the end of June. Graduates of the 

                                                                       
                                                                                   

program will participate in an in-person Showcase event during the month of July to an audience of investors, community leaders, media, and potential business partners/customers.

In February 2022, the Tampa Bay Innovation center broke ground on a dedicated incubator facility to be located in St. Pete’s Innovation District. The building’s title sponsor, Ark Investment Management, announced a collaboration with TBIC in October of 2021 and will house their education foundation and parts of their research team in the facility, which is scheduled to open in July of 2023.
