'Surreal Surprise' at Creative Clay

Surreal Surprise, holiday shopping, and author event on tap for December ArtWalk
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – December’s ArtWalk is only the second time since March 2020 that Creative Clay has hosted an in-person ArtWalk, but it promises to be an evening of surreal, Salvador Dali-inspired art, holiday shopping, and an author book signing.
Creative Clay’s newest exhibit, Surreal Surprise, opened Nov. 12 and features surrealistic, and Salvador Dalí -inspired artwork by the Member Artists and Transition Student Artists of Creative Clay. Coinciding with the exhibit, The Dalí Museum created greeting cards featuring our artists’ original surreal artwork, available for sale at the Museum Store. The original artwork appearing on the greeting cards are included in our exhibit.
This partnership with The Dali Museum also allows Creative Clay to work with another local arts organization and to celebrate the art of Salvador Dali.
“Partnering with The Dali Museum, and working with Dianne Birmingham, Sales and Merchandise Director, was a great pleasure, resulting in beautiful quality notecards now displayed and for sale in the Museum Store at The Dali,” said Jody Bikoff, Creative Clay Director of Exhibitions.
This exhibit may be viewed in person at Creative Clay Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and in Creative Clay’s virtual gallery, which includes the artwork of many of Creative Clay’s member artists. All artwork in this exhibit, as well as in Creative Clay’s virtual gallery is for sale. Artists receive 50% commission on all works sold.
Also at the Dec. 10 ArtWalk is an author event featuring Lenora Mitchell, mother of Creative Clay Member Artist, Marquise R. Lenora recently published her second book, Women of Wisdom, which shares stories of impactful women who've made an impression and positively affected their communities. She will be signing and selling copies of her book from 5 to 9 p.m.
Lenora is a steady supporter of Creative Clay. She and her family regularly attend Creative Clay events, and she has accompanied the contingent of Creative Clay artists and staff that travels to Tallahassee each spring for Disability Awareness Day at the Capitol.
