Sunlit Literary Festival Celebration of Literature, April 1-3, 2022

April 1-3, 2022 literary and other arts & cultural circles will intersect during the sixth annual SunLit Literary Festival, a springtime celebration of the written word. It brings together various literary organizations in different St. Petersburg locations and arts disciplines to celebrate literacy, literature, reading, and writing for days of intoxicating “Litertainment” and just plain fun.

SunLit Literary Festival is a collaboration of like-minded literary, cultural, and civic organizations coordinating their individual efforts for the common goal of advancing the enjoyment of books, reading, writing, and the classic art of letterpress printing. Literature represents a moment in time. It is an exploration of our history, an expression of our experiences and of the life that surrounds us. It is a discussion of who we are, how we got that way and what choices we can make to shape our future. The sixth annual festival is produced by the literary nonprofit, Keep St. Pete Lit.

Participants and Schedule Highlights include:

• April 1: The awards ceremony, and a St. Petersburg Press “Meet the Authors” cocktail reception, open the Sunlit Kickoff Party (6 p.m.-midnight) at The Factory. Themed around Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are, the April 1 kickoff party will feature unique art installations, live music, food and beverage trucks and more.
• April 1-3: 39th Annual Florida Antiquarian? Book Fair at the St. Petersburg Coliseum.
• April 2 events: Poetry in the Park BLC (Thomas “Jet” Jackson Recreation Center), Mirror Lake Walking Tour With A Literary Twist (a collaboration with Preserve the ‘Burg), Gulfport Historical Society Book Swap (Gulfport History Museum), Nature Journaling with St. Pete Audubon (Sawgrass Lake Park), Poetry Exploring Wildness: A SunLit Poetry Event (Tombolo Books), Children’s Poetry Night Hike (Boyd Hill Nature Preserve).
• April 3 events: Tour de Kerouac (a guided bike tour in collaboration with the Friends of Jack Kerouac group), Wordier’s 1K Walk and Write (or Read), Lucha Libro (eight of Tampa Bay’s most daring writers face off in “live literary combat,” The Studio@620).
