St. Petersburg College marks 143rd commencement on May 7
St. Petersburg College will hold its 143rd commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Tropicana Field, 1 Tropicana Dr., St. Petersburg.
The event is SPC’s first in-person commencement ceremony since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Graduates from over the past two years have been invited as they did not have the opportunity to participate in a traditional ceremony.
The event also will be shown live on the college’s YouTube channel.
With this graduating class, SPC will have awarded 192,291 degrees since the college – Florida’s first community college – was founded in 1927.
The college’s youngest graduate is 16 years old, the oldest is 74 years old and 16 graduates are over the age of 60.
SPC will award:
- 1153 Associate in Arts degrees
- 498 Associate in Science degrees
- 309 Bachelor of Applied Science degrees
- 172 Bachelor of Science degrees
- 262 certifications
Garrick Roe and Patricia Roberts will address fellow graduates and guests. Roe is the Alumni Achievement Award Winner, which is the highest honor a bachelor’s degree graduate can achieve at the college. Roberts is the Apollo Award Winner, which is the highest honor an associate degree graduate can achieve.
