St. Pete Cre8 Invites Community to Help Design St. Pete’s Next Creative District

Four-Day “Charrette” to Shape 28-Acre Neighborhood Vision, Nov. 17-20

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A new kind of neighborhood is taking shape in St. Petersburg – one built not by developers behind closed doors, but by the community itself. The Iafrate family, owners of the 28-acre property just west of the Warehouse Arts District, are launching St. Pete Cre8, a bold new vision for a “creators’ district” designed by and for the makers, artists, chefs, and innovators who define the city’s spirit.

From Nov. 17-20, the public is invited to participate in a multi-day design charrette, a collaborative planning event where community members share ideas to help shape the future of this new district. The open sessions will run daily from 4 to 7 p.m. at the future site of St. Pete Cre8, located at 855 28th Street South, St. Petersburg.

“There are enough prepackaged, same-old-same-old communities being built across Florida,” said Dominic Iafrate, on behalf of the Iafrate family. “St. Petersburg deserves something better. Something rooted in creativity, collaboration, and a real sense of place.”

The event will combine community engagement with local culture, featuring live music, chef pop-ups, and artist showcases alongside facilitated design sessions led by planners and community partners. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute ideas that will inform the site’s future design and development framework.

“This charrette is an invitation to co-create,” said Matt Armstrong, Chief Development Officer for AFL, the Iafrate family business. “It’s where imagination meets planning and where St. Pete’s creative community can help define the next great district in our city.”

The St. Pete Cre8 charrette also coincides with a historic milestone: exactly 100 years after John Nolen’s original 1925 master plan for St. Petersburg. Though his vision for green, integrated growth was never fully adopted, it inspired generations of city planners. St. Pete Cre8 aims to revive that spirit through modern, sustainable urban design that honors nature and creativity in equal measure.
