Spitfire Comedy House Named Best of the Bay: "Best Improv Team" by Creative Loafing for the Second Year in a Row

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (October 2025) — Spitfire Comedy House has once again been named “Best Improv Team" by Creative Loafing, marking the second consecutive year the St. Petersburg-based comedy venue has earned the honor. The award highlights Spitfire’s continued commitment to laughter, creativity, and community across the Tampa Bay area.

Located in the heart of St. Petersburg’s Warehouse Arts District, Spitfire Comedy House has become the region’s go-to destination for unscripted entertainment. The theater produces seven shows per week, featuring short-form, long-form, and musical improv, and is home to “Whose Line St. Pete,” the longest-running improv show in the Tampa Bay area.

“This award means the world to us because it’s chosen by the community we serve,” said Zach Mouriz, founder of Spitfire Comedy House. “Improv thrives on connection, creativity, and courage - and we’re honored that Tampa Bay continues to show up, laugh, and grow with us week after week.”

In addition to live performances, Spitfire offers improv classes for all experience levels, along with private corporate events, team-building workshops, and employee appreciation nights. Every Sunday at 2 PM, Spitfire hosts an open “Drop-In”, welcoming anyone who wants to dip their toes into the wonderful world of improv in a fun, supportive environment.
