SPC receives a $125,000 grant to provide scholarships for South St. Petersburg residents
Speer Foundation will award St. Petersburg College (SPC) with a $125,000 grant on Aug. 16 to support residents in South St. Petersburg who want to take the first step on a new career pathway in viable workforce industries. The grant will support the First Step Scholarship and recipients will receive a scholarship for full tuition, books, and materials related to the selected training of their choice in the following areas:
§ Specialized manufacturing
§ Financial services
§ Data analytics
§ Creative arts and design
Media is invited to capture the announcement and conduct interviews with a student who would benefit from the scholarship. In addition, representatives from SPC and Speer Foundation can discuss the initiative and its goal to address the needs of employers in key industries within the Tampa Bay area.
