Run of show for today’s St. Petersburg Mayor’s Inauguration Program
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Ken Welch will make history today when he is sworn in as the first African American Mayor of St. Petersburg. Welch will give a live, virtual address at noon. The speech will be carried on the city’s television channel — St. Pete TV — and streamed on the city’s Facebook page. It will also include video from earlier in the day of Welch being sworn-in as the city’s 54th Mayor.
Attached is a jpeg of today’s inauguration program, which will run about 30 minutes.
Following the program, around 1 p.m. today, Welch will hold a brief, virtual media availability. Reporters/producers/editors wanting to participate should RSVP to Preston@CatalystCommunicationsGroup.com. A Zoom link with the exact time of the availability will be sent out mid-morning to those who RSVP.
One factoid to pass along, classrooms in at least 22 Pinellas County schools will be tuning in to watch today’s ceremony and mayoral speech.
We encourage those covering the events to use the hashtag #WeAreStPete.
