Preserve the ‘Burg Accepting Nominations to Honor Local Preservation Advocates

St. Petersburg, FL — Nominations are open now through March 21st for Preserve the 'Burg's 2022 Preservation Awards. The biennial awards will be hosted on April 27, 2022 at the historic Palladium Theater. 

Awards highlight the people, associations and businesses that are helping to save, restore and reuse the historic buildings and places that play a key part in St. Pete’s unique sense of place.

Homeowners, businesses, and individuals who have taken a step to preserve a historic building or landmark in the St. Petersburg area are eligible to receive a Preservation Award. Past winners include Barkett Realty for their commitment to adaptive reuse, and the St. Petersburg Shine Mural Festival which was recognized for activating historic spaces. Nominations include a variety of categories and are submitted by the public. 

Nominations can be submitted for the following award categories and criteria:

Restoration or Rehabilitation 

Stewardship

Adaptive Reuse

Compatible Design

Preservationist or Educator of the Year

New this year, Preserve the ‘Burg is proud to announce the Maureen Stafford Excellence in Preservation Award. The Stafford Award recognizes an individual or organization that has a demonstrated track record of excellence working to renovate and restore historic properties in St. Petersburg. The recipient will be recognized with a $1,000 check from Preserve the ‘Burg.

"The Awards celebrate those people who have gone the extra mile, paid close attention to detail and made the extra effort to restore a piece of local history and help keep St. Pete special," said Manny Leto, executive director of Preserve the 'Burg. "We're especially excited to announce the Maureen Stafford Excellence in Preservation Award. It's important to both recognize and reward the people that are doing this work."
