LA SEGUNDA BAKERY & CAFÉ SETS OPENING DATE
FOR  ST. PETERSBURG LOCATION

Historic Ybor City business opens third location in Crescent Park on March 21

(St. Petersburg, FL) – La Segunda Bakery & Café, the legendary family-owned business, will bring a taste of Ybor City to St. Petersburg with the grand opening of its third location on Monday, March 21, 2022. The Café is located at 2436 4th Street North on the corner of 25th Avenue and 4th Street in the Holiday Plaza.

The new 1,820-square-foot location will focus on grab-and-go orders, delivery and catering, with indoor seating for approximately 40, and an outdoor, pet-friendly patio that will also accommodate 28 seats. In addition to motor vehicle parking, there will also be ample bicycle racks at the location. The kitchen has been designed for efficiency and a great guest experience, all while keeping the authentic, La Segunda family-feel.

“We really love this area of St. Petersburg,” said Copeland More, fourth generation owner. “It has a great mix of residential and office space, and it’s also very walkable. We can’t wait to bring a slice of Ybor City to the Sunshine City and greet our new neighbors with the smell of fresh-baked Cuban bread. We often have visitors from St. Petersburg at our two Tampa locations, so we’re very excited to continue our expansion efforts across the bay.”

La Segunda is known for its authentic, made from scratch recipes which have been a staple of the business for 107 years. The St. Pete location will offer many of the same menu items as its Tampa locations, including made to order Cuban sandwiches, salads, cafe con leche, guava and cheese turnovers, quesitos, Italian cookies, flan and other delicious favorites baked in house.

As the largest producer of Cuban bread in the world, guests will also be able to pick up freshly baked loaves of Cuban bread with La Segunda’s signature palmetto leaf on top.

The uniquely decorated interior will reflect La Segunda’s Ybor City roots. Red brick accent walls represent many of the neighborhood’s buildings. Custom made iron work accents, similar to the Spanish and Italian architecture of Tampa’s 7th Avenue, will grace areas of the café and were designed by Tampa-based Vasquez Custom Metals. The historic five-globe street lights of Ybor City will be re-interpreted through globe-shaped pendant lighting and mounted lamps throughout the café.

The original La Segunda Central Bakery is located in Ybor City, while its second Bakery & Café location opened on Kennedy Boulevard in South Tampa in 2018. The St. Petersburg location will be open 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week.

About La Segunda Bakery & Cafe

La Segunda Bakery & Café is a family-focused, fourth-generation owned and operated bakery. Iconic in the Tampa Bay region since 1915, La Segunda bakes history every single day at its South Tampa bakery & cafe and the original La Segunda Central Bakery in historic Ybor City. The largest producer of Cuban bread in the world, La Segunda hand crafts approximately 18,000 loaves daily, all with the bakery’s signature palmetto leaf strip on the top. La Segunda also delivers Cuban bread to some of Tampa Bay’s most well-known restaurants and to other popular dining establishments around the country.

La Segunda’s fresh made tradition began in 1915 when Juan Moré brought his traditional recipes of breads and pastries to Ybor City, a melting pot of Spanish, Cuban, Italian and German heritage. Today, those recipes – a celebration of the many cultures that have built and continue to influence our community - are prepared almost entirely by hand just as they were back then.

The vision and philosophy of La Segunda remains the same - unite the community in the culture and craft passed down through family traditions. For more information, visit www.lasegundabakery.com.
