KIDS AND KUBS TO PLAY TAMPA GENERAL HOSPITAL TRANSPLANT TEAM SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9

Tampa General Hospital's Transplant Institute will visit North Shore Park, 901 North Shore Blvd, St Petersburg, on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The softball game aims to increase public awareness about organ donation and transplanting organs at the hospital.

A featured event of the day will be the annual softball game with the Organ Transplant Team challenging the Kids and Kubs. The game is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.

The event was initiated by Kids and Kubs' player Cleo Stinyard, who challenged the Transplant Team to a softball game after a successful kidney transplant 10 years ago. Tampa General is Florida's busiest transplant center, and TGH has performed an estimated 20,000 transplants over the past years.

Tampa General Hospital's Transplant Institute is ranked in the top 5 in the nation by volume and number one in Florida. The Liver Transplant Program began in 1987 and is now one of the busiest liver transplant centers in the country.

The Transplant Institute has performed over 2,700 liver transplants and set records in 2023. The high patient volumes reflect the uncommon and challenging hepatic diseases we treat compared to other hospitals.

Those attending the free event can receive information about pancreas and kidney transplants and donor opportunities.

The annual game is an example of the Kid and Kubs Softball Club making available dates for Saturday exhibition games. Charities may sponsor their clubs, churches, favorite charities, family reunions, or company picnics through fundraising efforts. All dates are open except when the City schedules major events at North Shore Park.
