Kids and Kubs Open 93rd Season: Tues November 1 at 9:30 AM
At St Petersburg's North Shore Park, the "Grand Daddy of Senior Softball" organizations will open the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, November 1.
Opening game ceremonies begin at 9:30 AM, with a colorful flag presentation, accompanied by "Star-Spangled Banner" and "Oh! Canada" at North Shore Park, 901 North Shore Drive. The ball field is adjacent to the St Petersburg Aquatic Center at the Park.
Club members will appear in the traditional ceremonial uniform shirt and black bow tie. The tie became a trademark of the Club early in its 92-year existence. Long ties were an impediment to fielding ground balls, and the bow tie was out of the way, close to the collar, and much easier to manage. The clip-on bow tie of today makes neither fielding nor tying an issue.
Under the direction of a seven-member Board, the four teams within the Club call North Shore Park their home, with games every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, beginning at 10 AM. Admission is free.
The Saturday exhibition schedule features games against local and out-of-state teams and fundraising opportunities with local charities Saturdays.Exhibition
Saturday exhibition games will be added as the 22-23 season progresses. Local service clubs, charities. Businesses, churches, and family reunion gatherings are encouraged to involve the Kids and Kubs in their fundraising efforts. Contact the Club Office at 727-893-7108 for information on how this may happen.
