Update: Intersection Closed at 5th Ave. N and 16th St. N Due to Water Leak

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (Jan. 24, 2025) - The City of St. Petersburg is notifying residents and commuters of a continued traffic interruption, in which the intersection of 5th Ave. N (east and west bound) and 16th St. N. northbound is closed until further notice. This closure is due to a City of St. Petersburg water main leak and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) stormwater pipe replacement.
 
The City water pipe repair is complete and FDOT is scheduled to replace the stormwater pipe and open the roadway for travel by Friday, Jan. 31, or until work is completed.
 
As work progresses, intermittent closure of the southbound lane of 16th St. N at the intersection of 5th Ave. N may be required for FDOT to complete work. Crews are onsite and working diligently to address the issue and restore safe traffic conditions as quickly as possible.
 
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes and to exercise caution when traveling in the surrounding area. Updates on the status of repairs and road closures will be provided as work progresses.
