Hubbard’s Marina Crew Rescues Four Boaters During 39-Hour Offshore Fishing Trip
Madeira Beach, Fla. — What began as a routine 39-hour offshore fishing trip aboard Hubbard’s Marina’s Florida Fisherman turned into a successful rescue mission when Captain Will and his crew safely brought four stranded boaters back to shore after their vessel became disabled offshore.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. yesterday, while fishing offshore, the crew of the Florida Fisherman heard the U.S. Coast Guard issuing radio calls to a vessel in distress. Captain Will immediately altered course to offer assistance. The Hubbard’s Marina crew helped the disabled vessel get its engines running again. Believing the situation had been resolved, the Florida Fisherman returned to its scheduled fishing trip.
A few hours later, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the same vessel experienced additional mechanical failures, leaving its occupants stranded once again. Captain Will and the crew immediately responded for a second time. With the U.S. Coast Guard monitoring the situation from overhead by helicopter, the crew safely transferred all four individuals from the disabled vessel onto the Florida Fisherman. The four rescued boaters were transported safely back to shore without injury. Arrangements are expected to be made for the recovery of their vessel.
“Our crews are trained to respond when fellow mariners need assistance,” said Captain Will. “We’re grateful everyone made it home safely, and we appreciate the coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard throughout the incident.”
The successful rescue serves as another reminder of the boating community’s longstanding tradition of helping fellow mariners in need and the importance of remaining prepared while offshore.
