Historic St. Petersburg Landmark Reopens as Premier Event Center: Traditions on Tyrone
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A beloved local landmark is entering a sophisticated new chapter. Traditions on Tyrone, a premier luxury event center, will officially open its doors on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the iconic site formerly occupied by Harold Seltzer’s Steakhouse, located at 3500 Tyrone Blvd North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710.
The completely reimagined venue breathes new life into a location woven into the fabric of the St. Petersburg community. While paying homage to the building’s rich history of hospitality, Traditions on Tyrone introduces a modern, elegant aesthetic designed to host the region’s most memorable gatherings—including weddings, corporate events, and celebrations of life.
“We recognized the deep sentimental value this building holds for the people of St. Petersburg,” said Christopher Halsey, Location Manager of Traditions on Tyrone. “Our goal was to preserve that welcoming spirit while elevating the space into a world-class venue. Whether it’s a dream wedding, a corporate gala, or an intimate family milestone, we are honored to help our guests create new traditions here.”
Following a multi-million-dollar renovation, the expansive property has been transformed into a versatile, state-of-the-art event facility featuring multiple distinct spaces:
- The Grande Orchid – Seating capacity: 120
- The Royal Palm – Seating capacity: 120
- The Orange Blossom – Seating capacity: 60
- The Seltzer Legacy Tavern – Seating capacity: 45
- Pelican’s Landing (Outdoor Lounge) – Seating capacity: 50
Each space features modern architectural finishes, luxury flooring, customizable lighting, and top-tier audiovisual capabilities, offering flexibility for events of all sizes.
At the heart of the venue is the Seltzer Legacy Tavern, a preserved piece of the original steakhouse. The restored wooden bar—refinished to a rich sheen—serves as a striking focal point, complemented by olive-green tones, stained-glass accents, and Tiffany-style lighting that create a timeless, speakeasy-inspired ambiance.
Guests can also enjoy Pelican’s Landing, an outdoor lounge designed for pre- and post-event gatherings, offering a relaxed space for socializing.
Honoring its past, Traditions on Tyrone will also retain a familiar and iconic feature—the beloved cow mascot that generations of families have photographed with over the years. A local Florida artist will repaint the mascot on June 2–3, followed by a community naming contest.
“Nothing brings people together better than food and hospitality,” Halsey added.
Traditions on Tyrone has partnered with local caterers to provide bespoke, upscale dining experiences tailored to each event. The venue will also continue the tradition of hosting community holiday dinners and plans to introduce ticketed themed events featuring live music and local artists.
Conveniently located near the Tyrone area, with ample parking and close proximity to local beaches and downtown St. Petersburg, Traditions on Tyrone is now accepting bookings for the 2026 and 2027 event seasons.
