HCA Florida Northside Hospital Recognized for Quality Achievements
St. Petersburg, Fla. – November 1, 2023 – HCA Florida Northside Hospital was recently recognized by Healthgrades with the 2024 Critical Care Excellence Award, 2024 Surgical Care Excellence Award and named among the Top 10% of Hospitals in the Nation for Surgical Care in 2024. Thesedistinctions, along with being a five-star recipient for 12 specialty areas is based on a new analysis by Healthgrades. It reflects HCA Florida Northside Hospital’s outstanding clinical performance and distinguishes it as one of the country’s leading hospitals.
The 12 specialties include cardiac treatments of coronary interventional procedures, defibrillator procedures, and heart failure; critical care treatments of diabetic emergencies, respiratory failure and sepsis; gastrointestinal treatment of colorectal surgeries; neurosciences treatment of stroke; pulmonary treatment of pneumonia; vascular treatments of carotid procedures; and orthopedics treatments of hip fracture and spinal fusion surgery.
The Healthgrades report evaluates hospitals solely on clinical outcomes: risk-adjusted mortality and complications. By focusing on what matters most, patient outcomes, the Healthgrades ratings provide critical feedback for both patients and hospitals. The 2024 hospital assessment evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 35 common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
