Mike Sutton, Tampa Titan 100 Honoree

Mike always looks towards the future and Habitat’s potential in the Tampa Bay region. From being solely based in Pinellas County, to expanding to West Pasco County, and now Hernando County, Mike continues to grow his team and the ability to change more families’ lives each year. Looking ahead to the next five years, Habitat’s goal is to continue to increase the numbers of families serves annually in a sustainable manner. The affiliate has broken its own total for home builds every year since 2021 and Mike and his team intend to continue that trend.

Mike balances high production with high character values and culture at Habitat. Mike and his executive team work to attract talent that not only do their job well, but will help make Habitat a better place to work each day. Mike is never satisfied with mediocrity. The Habitat staff grew from 19 employees in 2014, to 70 staff members over the next five years. The creation of 50+ jobs during that time also provided the opportunity for growth for many at Habitat. Mike is not only focused on Hab on Habitat’s goals but also helping his team grow in their careers as well.

Mike has been driven by the perspective that 501(c)(3) is a tax status, not a business model. This allows the organization to be innovative and creative in establishing mutually beneficial public-private partnerships. With this vision in mind, Mike has turned an organization with an annual revenue of $5 million to now over $35 million in revenue. This financial foundation has allowed for the number of homes built to increase from 20 a year to now over 80+.

“I am humbled to be included with this elite group of business leaders from our community,” said Sutton. “Being a Tampa Titan 100 honoree just reinforces the work that we do every day at Habitat. Our organization takes great pride in being seen as a brand that the Tampa Bay business community can partner with and help build more affordable homes for deserving families in our region.”

Mike Sutton will be honored at the Titan 100 awards celebration on October 24, 2024, at The Motor Enclave in Tampa, Florida. The Motor Enclave is the premier developer of experiential motorsports venues in North America. The 200-acre development includes a 1.72-mile Hermann Tilke-designed Driving Circuit and a 37,000 square-foot corporate Event Center where we are honored to host the inaugural Tampa Titan 100 Awards. This unique cocktail-style awards event will gather 100 Titans of Industry and their guests for an evening unlike anything that exists in the Tampa business community.

“Our entire Enavate team is privileged to congratulate all the Titan 100 honorees. Tampa has a truly outstanding community of business leaders, and it is our honor to see their ingenuity and dedication recognized and celebrated. As an inaugural Titan 100 Hall of Fame member in Colorado, I have seen firsthand the impact this network of leaders can have in building their own organizations as well as a thriving community. Your exceptional vision, passion, and influence have proven that your inclusion in the Titan 100 is well-earned.” – Thomas Ajspur, CEO of Enavate and Titan 100 Hall of Fame Honoree.

Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County and West Pasco Counties

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties has served 900 homeowner partners since 1985. The affiliate serves Pinellas, West Pasco, and Hernando Counties. Volunteers and future homeowners construct the homes, which are sold and financed with a zero-interest loan. Habitat homeowner candidates earn 30 to 80 percent of the area median income. Candidates must demonstrate the need for adequate shelter; the ability to pay back a zero-interest loan and the willingness to partner with Habitat to complete a robust homebuyer education curriculum and invest 350 to 450 “sweat equity” hours. Mortgage monies are used to build even more homes, making each donation to Habitat a perpetual legacy to the community. Habitat believes that homeownership contributes to family stability, leading, in turn, to community stability. For more information, call (727) 536-4755 or visit www.habitatpwp.org
