City of St. Petersburg Launches Grant Opportunity To Fund College and Career Readiness, Now Accepting Applications

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (January 14, 2025) - The City of St. Petersburg invites qualified local nonprofits to apply for the Youth Opportunity Grants for Career and College Readiness Grant Program, a key initiative to support at-risk, disengaged, and nearly disengaged youth.

Grant applications are open now and will close February 10. Each grant will be worth $20,000, and there is enough funding for up to 4 non-profits to be awarded the funds.

This grant aims to fund innovative educational and enrichment programs that empower youth, ages 3 to 24, to achieve their full potential.

Eligibility
Eligible programs should focus on providing tools for effective goal-setting and future planning, exposing youth to diverse career pathways and post-secondary opportunities, and fostering civic engagement through community service. By investing in these programs, the City seeks to create accessible and impactful opportunities that inspire growth, education, and a sense of purpose, ensuring a brighter future for St. Petersburg's young people.

The nonprofit vendors that will be selected must have services that:
- Provide tools that assist youth in proper goal setting and planning for their futures (high school and secondary)
- Expose youth to new careers and post-secondary educational opportunities,
- Encourage civic educational engagement by involving youth in community service projects.

How To Apply
- The application period will open on January 13, 2025, and close on February 10.
- Please visit www.stpete.org/educationYOG to apply.

"Our young people deserve access to pathways that prepare them for success in school, in the workforce, and in life," said Dr. Sheron Brown, the City's Director of Education and Youth Opportunities. "The Youth Opportunity Grants program is designed to provide much-needed resources to organizations that directly serve at-risk and disengaged youth in St. Petersburg. Together, we can help open doors to brighter futures for those who need it most."
