Position Summary

The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to guests quickly, accurately, and with a high level of presentation and professionalism. This role serves as a critical link between the kitchen and front-of-house team, ensuring dishes are executed and delivered according to the restaurant’s standards while enhancing the overall guest experience.


Key Responsibilities

Food Delivery & Presentation

  • Deliver food to tables promptly while ensuring accuracy and proper presentation
  • Communicate clearly with guests when dropping off dishes, including identifying items and key ingredients when appropriate
  • Ensure all plates meet quality standards before leaving the kitchen
  • Handle food with care to maintain temperature, appearance, and integrity

Team Coordination

  • Work closely with kitchen staff and servers to ensure efficient flow of service
  • Maintain constant communication regarding order status, timing, and special requests
  • Assist in expediting orders during high-volume periods

Guest Experience

  • Provide a warm, professional, and engaging interaction with guests
  • Anticipate guest needs and assist with basic requests (refills, condiments, etc.) or communicate to the server
  • Support a seamless dining experience by ensuring timely delivery and table awareness

Cleanliness & Organization

  • Keep expo line, service stations, and runner areas clean and organized
  • Assist with clearing tables and resetting as needed
  • Ensure all service tools, trays, and equipment are properly maintained

Operational Support

  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including stocking and side work
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and modifications
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
