TOTB - Local Edition: Ferry Feasibility Cruise

Monday, May 13, 2024 (10:15 AM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Join us on a Thinking Outside the 'Burg - Local Edition ferry adventure!

The St. Pete Chamber is dedicated to proactively exploring ways to ensure the future economic prosperity of St. Petersburg. One key element is transportation and connectivity, and we believe that expanding ferry transit is a paramount. The Chamber Transportation Committee is in the planning stages of commissioning a Urban Land Institute (ULI) national panel study to learn more about the feasibility of ferry transit in Tampa Bay to connect the employment centers with population centers in our region.

The Transportation Committee has researched and organized a trip from Ft. DeSoto to Anna Maria Island aboard a Hubbards Maria ferry. The goal of the trip is to hear from chamber representatives, elected officials, transit operators and transportation planners about the new ferry route from downtown Bradenton to the beaches - and to be able to bring back best practices to our community. Additional details and investment opportunities regarding the forthcoming ULI study will be discussed as well.
