International Folk Fair #49

Description

SPIFFS is celebrating our golden anniversary this year, and hosting our 49th International Folk Fair. The Fair will be in England Brothers Park in Pinellas Park, February 20-22, 2025. We would love to invite you to volunteer at the Fair on Thursday and/or Friday, or volunteer/attend on Saturday. 

On Saturday, 2/2 (10am-6pm), we are open to the public. While each day has food, performances, dances, music and more from around the world, Saturday also has an international beer garden. Saturday also brings us a parade of nations, culminating in a ceremony with the national anthem - this time being played by the leader of our Mongolian village (so excited about this!) on his Morin Khuur, or Horse Headed Fiddle. 

The parade starts at 2pm, culminating a bit before 3pm. This year we have 22 member cultures participating, from Vietnamese to Scottish, German to Hmong, Peruvian to Taiwanese. The cultures set up little villages where they have cultural displays - and many are making food and drinks from their nations. Plus we will have Bulgarian dancers and Korean martial arts and sword demonstrations. We have performances on two stages throughout each day, along with more martial arts demonstrations, bilingual storytelling (thank you, Pinellas Public Library Collective), an international musical instrument petting zoo, Ikebana, and much more.
