The purpose of our national award winning Public Policy & Advocacy Program is to provide a structure of communicating between leaders of business and government while advocating for The Chamber's Business & Quality of Life Agenda.  In fact, Public Policy is a primary objective for the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber strongly believes that by working with elected officials and other community partners the business community is represented and considered in all public policy decisions.  We are working on issues impacting both our business climate and the quality of life in our city, region and state for YOU.  Recognizing today’s professionals have many responsibilities and duties; we are working on your behalf.  The St. Petersburg Area Chamber is here to make it is easy as possible to be informed and active.

The Chamber has a history of success!  We have hosted top political figures, including former President George W. Bush, Governor Charlie Crist, former Senator Mel Martinez, Congressman Bill Young, former Speaker of the House Marco Rubio, Mayor Rick Baker, Mayor Bill Foster and others.  In addition, the Chamber has won several national awards for its Public Policy programming and events.  In 2007, the Board voted to approve the creation of a political action committee.

In 2009 the Committee & PAC kicked off a very successuful HOB KNOB event.  Stay turned for an opportunity to meet candidate at and more exciting HOB KNOB in the third quarter of 2010.

2010 will aslo feature a major County Transportation effort spearhead by your Chamber in partnership with Chambers throughout the county.
